Designed and built by Open Horizon, Bayridge is shaped by a steep mountainside site with a 40-foot grade change. Construction required approximately 200 cubic metres of excavation while the house was developed around fire-resistant exterior materials, Step Code 3 performance and multigenerational living. Entered in the 2026 HAVAN and Georgie Awards as Monolith, the project was selected as a finalist in the custom-home category.

Site and architectural idea

A steep mountainside site and a 40-foot grade change shaped the design-build project.

Construction challenge

Excavation and the changing ground levels had to be resolved alongside the house’s exterior materials and multigenerational layout.

Open Horizon provided both design and construction, connecting site preparation with the development of the house.

Result

Entered as Monolith, the completed custom home was named a 2026 HAVAN and Georgie Awards finalist.
